Here is the work we did this week.
Final Draft

Sept 20-Monday

Day 10
Chem 112-Today we will go over isotopes(section 4.3) and check over the answers to the electron configuration work that you did early last week. You will be checking over answers to theory questions from the textbook. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about any of the work you have done so far. Our test is tomorrow. If time permits you will sign your contracts for going to the lab. Please do not forget the parental permission form. I hope that you have used the guide that I gave you last week to study for tomorrow's TEST on UNIT ONE.
Here is a document that contains answers to metric questions from last week's quiz.

Chem 122-We will check some work from friday that uses energies of formation and hess's Law that were assigned from the textbook(end of chapter). We will complete our group work with Hess' Law and using the table of enthalpies of formation.. We will finish our work on calorimeters and you were assigned some calorimeter questions from the orange sheet. #4, 6 and 7. Did you bring in your information form?

Chem 121-Test on Introductory Organic Chemistry Ch 22.

Sept 21-Tuesday

Day 11
Chem 122-More work with calorimeter calculations(bomb calorimeter) and reaction calculations where a reaction is providing energy for heating water in a hot water tank.. I also went over an example from the handout...#10a (ans. -3.35 GJ) and gave you time to do 11 b. in class. We will start candle mini lab.Test next monday on Ch 17 and energy calculations.
Here some documents to help you prepare for the test(below). SAFETY PEOPLE: there is a document below of the example we did in class today.

Sept 22-WednesdayDay 12

Chem 122-Today you will complete the work from the blue booklets. We will also go over another energy calculation that is like a calorimeter calculation and a calculation where energy from a reaction is used find out energy produced for a certain amount of a substance. I will assign 10b and 13.(You will add 13 to your page). You will complete candle mini lab tomorrow. The Hess's Law quiz will be done tomorrow.
#13 What amount ( mass) of methane undergoing complete combustion is required to heat 100.0 L of water from 5 degrees celsius to 70 degrees celsius? I assigned 27 to 33 on p 526 and p 531
Chem 121-You are being given half the class for final project preparation. The other part of the class will be used for a quick intro to setting up wikis. We will do the more practise with topics from Chem 11 like stoichiometry, gases, the mole, reactions and particles from p 502 #98, 99, 101, 104, 106 on another day.
The Projects are located on the chem 121 Page
Chem 121 Fall
Chem 112-We will spend half of the class doing the criss cross approach to writing ionic formulas. Please practise the criss cross approach over the next few nights. You will do your prelab work for the first set of labs which start tomorrow. Remember: No open-toed shoes and no contact lenses. Here is the other criss cross practise questions:
